I firmly feel everybody needs a still time throughout each and every day; a moment where you can loosen up and partake in a thoughtful exercise. Perhaps it may be simply taking in outsider art, or heading outside for a walk and witnessing the environment about you, or even taking part in a session of yoga or light physical exercise. Nowadays, everybody lives in a hectic environment in which we are bombarded with data with each and every waking second.

Yet, even when people reckon they are unwinding, oftentimes they simply are not. For instance, it vexes me that folks say that the TV is a peaceful form of way to unwind. It is oftentimes the opposite though – program schedulers want to provoke the viewer’s feelings on a regular basis, and you’ll find yourself becoming awakened with fear and feeling irritated just by watching TV. Therefore individuals need to try to find some peace and quiet throughout their day. They should unplug from their day by day life and seek the still life – an opportunity to follow their thoughts and maybe even quieten such thoughts down a bit. However, even when your thoughts are like a runaway train – that is absolutely OK – the subdued moment is a chance for you to diagnose those thoughts and query yourself just why you are thinking such thoughts. All in all, making some quiet time for yourself every day is a really wholesome thing to do.

In essence, the process of stencilling involves applying paint across a stencil to form an outline on a surface below. Sometimes multiple layers of stencils are applied on the same image to add colours or give the image some depth.

Stencilling has actually been around for 25 years, even though many people think Banksy contrived it. You can employ cardboard, paper or other types of media (such as plastics) to create templated imagery and text. You simply cut around the shapes from your cardboard/paper/other surface, put then place this surface against a wall (for example), and roll-on paint or spray into the cut-out shapes.

In essence, the process of stencilling involves applying paint across a stencil to form an outline on a surface below. Sometimes multiple layers of stencils are applied on the same image to add colours or give the image some depth.

So why do some people prefer to be a stencil artist? For some, it is a great platform to put across a political point. Other artists treasure the PR that their art can obtain. Some just want their art to be seen. As the stencil stays uniform throughout its use, it is far easier for a stencil artist to promptly repeat what could be an involved piece at a very speedy rate, when compared to other conventional tagging methods, so without question, there is also a persuasive self-promoting reason to prefer stencilling.

Banksy has applied stencilling as a method to put a point across, often rather succinctly, providing the spectator to work out that very point in their head. This is often why people enjoy his artworks so much, as they force the viewer to reflect on the meaning behind the artwork. Banksy artwork is being reprinted on posters, t-shirts and canvas, such is the popularity of Banksy.
