Naveen Jain: CEO Profile

In hindsight, Naveen Jain’s decision to leave Microsoft in order to build his own company with his own money was one of the best he ever made in a long list of decisions. It jumpstarted his career and he became both a brilliant technology developer and a remarkable businessman. He founded InfoSpace in 1996 with meager financing but with enough drive and determination. As its CEO, he led InfoSpace into becoming one of the biggest Internet companies providing content from white – and yellow – page services to weather forecasters, map providers, and news services. He offered information as a packaged service to websites.

He later left InfoSpace in 1996 to build another exciting company. In January 2003, Naveen Jain, along with other colleagues from InfoSpace, built Intelius, Inc, an online information security provider that does background checks, criminal checks, verification services, identity theft prevention, pre-employment screening, and people searches. Intellius’ mission is to empower and equip people and businesses with information they need in order to make intelligent decisions. At present, its growth numbers indicate prolific growth of 1566.27% since 2003.

Born and raised in India, Naveen Jain moved to the US in 1979 to study the possibilities of the emerging high technology market. Prior to this, he earned outstanding credentials to back him up – an undergraduate engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the St. Xavier’s School of Management. After his productive work with Microsoft and InfoSpace, Jain now manages one of the fastest growing information commerce companies in North America.

Testament to his brilliance and innovative spirit, he received recognition as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist and received the Albert Einstein Technology Medal. Under his leadership, Intelius has been the recipient of various awards and recognitions such as American Business Awards’ Best New Company and Most Innovative Company, 22nd Annual CODiE Awards finalist for Best Online Consumer Information Service and Best New Company finalist in the Eastside Business Awards.
