The Issue with Office Desks

A big issue at the present is on the strength of an office desk, the thickness of the tops, the strength of the frame, what fittings are used to connect the panels to the frames etc. Many manufacturers have moved away from the 18mm thick topped desk, and produce only 25 mm desks, as standard. There are many reasons for this, its means they only need to stock 0ne thickness of board, keeps there costs down, but, for buyers it means a stronger top, and a stronger desk. The strength can be improved by using metal, to metal fixings, cheaper option is to use plastic fittings, obviously not as strong, when you think how desks are abused in the workplace, by people dragging them, form one area to another, when the rearranging of the office layouts take place. Another bad habit within the office environment is staff sitting on the desk, whilst talking, or even standing on the desk, to see over the office screen obviously the thicker top is going to take more weight than a thinner top. On executive office furniture, there are many occasions that the tops increase to 36mm, or even 50mm. This adds the grand look to any office environment, and strength to the desk.
